This fiercely independent region is located on the west coast of the North Island, midway between Wellington and Auckland. It is dominated by the symmetrical volcanic cone of Mt Taranaki and the surrounding Egmont National Park which has a network of tracks and trails for those wishing to explore or climb the mountain.
The area also has some of the best surf beaches in the country and some of the country's finest Gardens of National Significance. The largest city is New Plymouth, a rural services city where our accommodation can be found.
